Pumpkin & Porch Care Tips
Your fall display is designed to last the season, but a little care goes a long way.
Pumpkins
Clean & Freshen: Mix equal parts water and white vinegar in a spray bottle. Lightly mist pumpkins and wipe them down weekly to slow mold and soft spots.
Pest Prevention: Peppermint oil mixed with water can help deter squirrels, mice, and insects. Spray lightly around pumpkins, not directly on them.
Deer Deterrent: If deer frequent your area, spray around (not directly on) your pumpkins with a deer repellent solution or sprinkle a barrier of cayenne pepper or clove. Deer dislike strong scents and spicy flavors.
Other Treatments: If you use sealants or sprays such as bleach, acrylic, or petroleum-based products, pumpkins may no longer be compostable or safe for animal recycling. If you’ve booked removal with us, please let us know so we can dispose of them properly.
Mums
Watering: Mums need consistent moisture. Check daily, especially on warm days. Water at the soil line rather than on blooms to keep flowers lasting longer.
Sun & Shade: Mums thrive in full sun to partial shade. If placed on a covered porch, rotate occasionally so they bloom evenly.
Deadheading: Remove faded flowers by pinching or snipping them just below the bloom. This keeps plants tidy and encourages fresh blossoms.
